Episode 55

Do You Want to Be an Entrepreneur or Is There Another Path?

Published on: 7th May, 2018

“Not everyone needs to be running a business. Not everyone is willing to do what it actually takes, because you have to go through fire.”

There are many important questions to answer when starting a business. The most important (and seemingly obvious) question is, “do you actually want to have a business?” Whether we set out with clear expectations, or begin a new venture on short notice, we have to answer this one question. In episode 55, we cover everything you need to be able to answer this question for yourself.

Entrepreneurs are a certain type of person. Most of times, we are driven, motivated, and ready to take any risk necessary to get us to our goals. It doesn’t require you to be an extrovert or become something that you’re not, but it does require you to be willing to do what it takes to get results over time. The game of business is not a short sprint, it’s a long game that requires determination and focus that is not for the faint of heart.

“If you’re in it for the short game, running a business is not for you.”

Often times, it can be difficult to get clarity around the question of what we really want. This can lead to business ventures that are misaligned with who we truly are, and not a the life-giving work that we want to be doing. Clarity is non-existent when we’re running a business that is misaligned with what we really want, or what our natural skills and abilities offer.

“Too many women are pushing a misaligned business up a hill, just trying not to be a failure.”

When you focus in on your strengths as a business, and the work that you want to do in the world, it’s also much easier to see your wins. As business owners we HAVE to keep track and celebrate our wins more than we focus in on the negative aspects of what we do. It’s essential to running a business that supports the life we want to live, and that gives us freedom to make the biggest impact in the world.

“The impact that you want to make in the world will not happen in a misaligned business.”
